JUNIOR PLAYERS (U5-U12)

Children born 2014–2021 are eligible to register for Juniors at Hobart City FC.

In 2026, families can choose between two registration pathways:

  1. Registration including City Academy (Full Program) – Our complete development pathway including Academy and team training
  2. Registration Only – Team training and match participation without Academy sessions

Both options provide a supportive and high-quality football experience within the Hobart City environment.

Choose Your Registration Option

1. Registration including City Academy (Full Program)

Includes access to our City Academy Program, giving every player a stronger development pathway across the season. This option is ideal for players who want additional training, structured development and maximum contact time.

Your yearly registration covers:

  • One or Two City Academy training sessions per week
  • One team training session per week
  • Year-long program across four terms (approx. 38 weeks)
  • Eligibility to participate in City Academy sessions, team training and games for the full season
  • Football Tasmania registration
  • End of season presentation and medals for all players


2. Registration Only

The Registration Only option is designed for families seeking a flexible football commitment with participation in team training and matches only.

Your yearly registration covers:

  • One team training session per week
  • Participation in games for the full season
  • Football Tasmania registration
  • End of season presentation and medals for all players


Note, Academy sessions are not included in the Registration Only option and will need to be purchased separately at $165 per term.

City Academy Development Focus

Our City Academy is designed to complement team training and match play, providing additional opportunities for players to improve their technical skills, tactical understanding, confidence on the ball and love of the game in a supportive, professional environment led by HCFC Junior/Youth Technical Director, Josh Dingjan.

City Junior Academy sessions place a strong emphasis on:

  • Confident, technically sound footballers in a fun, challenging and supportive environment
  • Core skill development: ball mastery, passing, receiving, dribbling and finishing
  • Game understanding, decision-making and confidence on the ball
  • Creativity, enjoyment and a love for the game
  • Strong habits that support long-term player development aligned with the club philosophy
  • Long-term player development aligned with the club philosophy
  • This program is ideal for players who want to keep improving, build strong habits, and get more out of every training and matchday.


Uniform

  • Players must wear either their navy blue Academy kit or sky blue training kit to all training sessions
  • Players are expected to have the current Club uniform on match days. If this is not already owned, the 2026 Junior kit is required: sky blue City shorts and blue City socks. Items can be purchased via the Shop page
  • Playing shirts are provided by the Club for match days and must be returned at the end of the season.
  • Players are also expected to wear appropriate football boots, shin pads, and bring a water bottle to all sessions and matches.

  • Grounds or sessions may be subject to change at the discretion of the Club. Should this occur, families will be notified in advance
  • Junior players compete in the Central Region Junior Football Association (CRJFA) roster.

In 2026, families can choose between two registration pathways:

  2. Registration Only – Team training and match participation without Academy sessions

Both options provide a supportive and high-quality football experience within the Hobart City environment.

Choose Your Registration Option

1. Registration including City Academy (Full Program)

Includes access to our City Academy Program, providing a clear and supported development pathway across the season. This option is ideal for players seeking additional training, structured progression and maximum contact time, particularly those aiming to challenge themselves and pursue Tier 1 selection.

Your yearly registration covers:

  • Two City Academy training sessions per week
  • One team training session per week
  • Year-long program across four terms (approx. 38 weeks)
  • Eligibility to participate in City Academy sessions, team training and games for the full season
  • Football Tasmania registration
  • Depending on players’ aspirations and availability, they can attend one or two Academy sessions each week alongside team training.
  • For selection in Division 1 teams, Youth players are required to attend at least one Academy session per week, in addition to their team training session.

The Registration Only option is designed for families seeking a flexible football commitment with participation in team training and matches only.

Your yearly registration covers:

  • One team training session per week
  • Participation in games for the full season
  • Football Tasmania registration

City Academy Development Focus

Our City Academy Program forms a key part of the Youth development pathway at Hobart City FC, supporting players to train with purpose and progress confidently through the age groups.

Designed to complement team training and match play, Academy sessions provide additional, structured contact time focused on refining technical ability, strengthening tactical understanding and building the habits required to succeed in senior football. Sessions are delivered within a supportive and professional environment led by HCFC Junior/Youth Technical Director, Josh Dingjan.

City Academy Youth sessions place a strong emphasis on:

  • Refined technical ability and game intelligence
  • Tactical understanding and decision-making
  • Physical development and performance habits
  • Strong standards, accountability, resilience and professionalism
  • Leadership and discipline to support progression into senior environments
  • Long-term player development aligned with the club philosophy
  • This program is ideal for players who want to keep improving, build strong habits, and get more out of every training and matchday.
